The two formulas

  • Forage a day = daily base x Season. The daily base is 466,200 CSM at launch settings.
  • What a Barn or goat gets = Forage x its weight / all live weight. It is shared out every second.
One stream of Forage, split between Barns and goats by weight. One stream of Forage, split between Barns and goats by weight.

A Barn’s stalls build the Barn’s balance. A goat’s weight builds the goat’s own balance, even when the goat is In Barn. Each tier’s weight is on Goats.

One stall’s day

One stall’s day = daily base x Season / all live weight. It is what one unit of weight gets in a day. Permit prices, tolls and Salt prices are set in this unit. As a worked example, not a predicted outcome: with only the 1,000 founding Barns at one stall each and a Season of 1.00, one stall’s day is 466,200 CSM / 1,000 = 466.2 CSM.

The Season

At the launch base, Forage a day is 582,750 CSM at the top Season of 1.25, 466,200 CSM at the starting Season of 1.00 and 93,240 CSM at the floor of 0.20. How the Season moves is on Treks and the Season.

Fixed rules

  • The daily base can only go down, and never below 1 CSM a day. A cut takes effect from the next Trek settlement. Apart from a cut and the Season, nothing changes the size of the stream.
  • Forage comes from an issuance budget of 432,900,000 CSM. Once it is spent, Forage stops for good. The Herd Share keeps streaming.

From balance to tokens

Forage is a balance in the Ledger, not tokens. A Barn can spend it on Permits and tolls. It becomes tokens only at a cash-out, which pays the Gate fee and mints the net amount to you. Founding Barns start to forage at the issuance start, not when they are bought. A Barn bought from a Barn lot forages from the moment it is bought. While there is no live weight at all, nothing is credited.
