A Goat Street goat counts in Mountain only once it is bound.

Bind your goats

On Grazing:
  1. Open In your wallet and pick up to 90 goats. The app splits the bind into transactions of at most 44 goats.
  2. Press Check goats. It shows each goat’s tier, owner, wallet contents and Goat Street soft-stake state (Goat Street’s own staking), and whether it can be bound.
  3. Get each goat ready on Goat Street first. Binding gives up its pending Goat Street rewards, so collect them and deliver any Goat Street credit it is owed. Empty the goat’s own wallet too: NFTs inside it cannot move after the bind, and any allowances it gave stay open.
  4. Tick the box to confirm that you understand binding is permanent.
  5. Approve. Your wallet approves each goat for the escrow one at a time and allows the Ledger to take the total toll in CSM.
  6. Press Bind. The app sets the most you will pay in total toll, and a deadline: the end of the current Permit roll.
The cost. Each goat pays the herding toll once, at the bind (the Grazing toll). It comes from your wallet only, in one payment for the whole batch. That CSM is burned out of supply. Who cannot bind. A goat’s own wallet cannot bind. Move a goat out of any token-bound account before you bind it.

What binding does

A goat's life in Mountain, from Goat Street to Burned.A goat's life in Mountain, from Goat Street to Burned.

  • The goat moves into Mountain’s escrow for good. A live goat has no way back.
  • You get a Goat Bell with the goat’s ID. It cannot be sold, moved or approved, and only its holder can act on the goat. If you bind from a Safe, the Bell goes to the Safe, and only the Safe can act on the goat.
  • The goat builds its own balance for the Bell holder, not for a Barn. That balance stays with the goat through Turn Out, a Barn closing and a Deed moving.
Bind and bring in at once. On Your Barns, open Goats and press Bring in on a goat listed under In your wallet, not bound yet. This binds that goat for good and puts it straight into a stall, one goat at a time. It pays no Grazing toll: the Bring In toll is the only payment, taken from the Barn’s balance first, then from your wallet. A goat bound this way does not get a later Bring In with no toll.

Grazing and In Barn

A bound goat is either Grazing (no Barn needed) or In Barn (it takes a stall in your own Barn and weighs 3x as much, at launch settings). A cashed-out goat weighs 0 for good. The Herd Ladder The weights shown are at level 1.00 and launch settings: In Barn = ladder x level x 0.18, and Grazing is a third of that. A goat’s tier never changes, and its level starts at 1.00.

Bring In and Turn Out

Bring In. On Grazing, pick a goat, press Bring into a Barn and choose the Barn. The goat takes a stall and a slot in the 24-hour window. You must hold both the Deed and the goat’s Bell. The other requirements are under What Bring In needs. A goat’s first Bring In after a paid bind has no toll. Later ones pay the toll. A goat drop that counts only Grazing goats leaves out any goat that is In Barn when the drop is registered. See Drops. Turn Out. Either the Bell holder or the Deed holder can press Turn out at any time. Turn Out has no toll and is never paused. The toll and the window slot do not come back, so the next Bring In pays. A goat also goes back to Grazing when its Barn’s Deed moves, when its Barn closes or when the Deed holder no longer holds its Bell. Anyone can send the repair for a goat in this state.

The goat’s own wallet

While a goat is bound, the escrow owns its Goat Street wallet (a token-bound account) and the Bell holder controls it. Open Goat wallet on Grazing:
  • Sweep to my wallet moves the ETH and tokens shown to your connected wallet. NFTs cannot move. Sweep any token tagged “lost at cash-out” yourself, because a cash-out leaves it behind.
  • A token not shown: before the cash-out, call the goat escrow’s sweep on the explorer with the token’s address.
  • Goat Street rewards and credit. A bound goat gets none until you register it again in Goat Street’s soft stake through the Bell (Goat Street’s fee and waiting period apply). After that, Goat Street rewards collects the rewards, and Goat Street’s deliver call delivers the goat’s credit.
  • The engine election is the goat’s payout choice on Goat Street. It can be set or reset through the Bell. Neither this nor registering is on the site yet, so use the goat escrow on the explorer.

Cash out a goat

On Grazing, pick the goat and press Cash out. The CSM goes to your connected wallet (on the explorer you can name another address). The app sets a minimum net amount and a deadline, as described on Cash-outs.
  • A goat cashes out only once, for its whole balance less the goat’s Gate fee. Its Bell is burned and the goat stops foraging for good.
  • If the goat was In Barn, its stall becomes empty. Neither the toll nor the lane room comes back. The goat’s unused Bring In with no toll, if it has one, is lost.
  • Then the clean-up runs, in the same transaction if gas allows:
    1. Any Goat Street credit the goat is owed is delivered. If the goat was registered again in the soft stake, its rewards are forwarded too.
    2. The goat’s wallet is swept to you: its ETH first, then up to 51 listed tokens.
    3. The goat is burned once nothing is left.
The Cashed out tab shows each goat as “wallet sweep due”, “waiting to burn” or “Burned”. If the clean-up did not finish, anyone can press Finish the sweep or Try the burn. After the grace period (90 days from the cash-out, at launch settings), anyone can press Burn now.

What can go wrong

  • After 90 days without activity, anyone can reset the goat’s whole balance. To stay active, press Check in now on Your Barns under Stay active, even if you hold no Barn. Each goat’s reset date is on its Grazing card.
  • NFTs and tokens that a cash-out does not sweep are lost at the burn. Credit not delivered before the bind can be lost too.
